Room Data Sheets SmartTool

RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to document the details and requirements of every space within a project. They are usually created by the client during the time of briefing (also called architectural programing in the US) of the design process. They may be updated throughout the design to reflect modifications or to provide more information to those responsible for delivering the project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows you to create room (or space), data sheets using a Revit project. It is a quick and accurate tool that can be used to create sheets, elevations and schedule views. The tool can produce 3D plans elevations, plans, and schedule views of rooms or spaces.

By default, the tool will utilize the Room Numbering template as well as the Sheet Format created by the Revit project, however, a different sheet name and style may be selected from the Tool Options tab. Click « Load Configuration …’ on the toolbar to replace current settings with previously saved configurations. This reduces the amount of manual work needed for each different room or space type and size.

In the ‘Naming’ tab the user can select whether to include the chosen room or space name in the sheet’s ‘Sheet Name text box that is located to the left of the screen. The ‘View Title option specifies the text that appears in the title bar for each view. View Increment specifies how many increments there are between each view on the sheet. The option ‘Spacing’ can be turned on to regulate the space between each view on the sheet, and’Exclude View Titles in Estimating View Sizes on Sheets:’ will ensure that titles are not included in determining the number of views that can fit on a sheet.
